Viriya’s new series of photographs created using cyanotype process, the old photo- graphic printing process uses a combi- nation of chemical substances and expos- ing it to a source of UV light. Viriya’s pho- tographs of everyday familiar objects al- ready show us a unique perception but when the photograph is produced through the cyanotype process together with its substantial colour, helps to reveal unusual dimensions and an ambiguous atmosphere.

Gray area Is a some of series photographs refers to the landscape and the elements in the images that the artist employs. The subject is still a micro-phenomenon, a part of the natural order taking place in our absence. By picking out these fragments of reality that occur without us. The images conveythe transitional state from wakefulness to sleep, resembling the manner of a sleep disorder that is experienced during this hypnagogic state and exploring contemporary anxieties amidst the stillness. In this mysterious narrative, desolate landscapes littered with modernist ruins and futuristic objects in Bangkok are brought into stark focus, materializing and delving into the idea of a deep, immeasurable space. The images correspond to the emergence of ephemeral surroundings, showcasing everyday objects with a poetic and immaterial approach. These isolated locations give us a curious mix of calmness and relaxation as well as anxiety and fear. They also show the meaning of existence without the interference of human beings and without infrastructure. Again, there are no specifica- tions of time or place. All the elements necessary to our understanding are perceptible. These series as a whole appear to follow a voluntarily open narrative structure that shows enduring objects existing beyond theconfines of human touch.  © Viriya Chotpanyavisut 2018

Late summer in Bangkok was filmed at  end  of  April  2016.  on the hottest recorded day in Thailand that year. The meteorology  department  reported a record temperatures of 44.6 degrees Celsius. The high temperatures caused a series of unusually heavy  storm - a  great  lightning  storms filled  the Bangkok sky. This film documented the storm from Chao Phraya river,  which is often seen as the  l inks between the city  and   nature, between the urban and rural . At one point, in contrast to the  glittering lights of the neoliberal  corporate skyline of the city, the shadow of a fisherman is seen ;  his impoverished reality is apparent. The work depicts people who are  struggling  to live while the raw,   uncontrollable power of nature makes life even more difficult. The video highlights the interrelationships and  constraints   between man and nature that exist today.

Urban Microscope _ Viriya’s focus a middle point between reality and imaginary world, photograph suggests alternative surrounding highlighting our exact position in connection with the environment. Within an urban structure, the artist notices trace of elements that is inaccessible or unnoticed by naked eyes to unfold their dependency connecting in different places. In phenomenon such as dust particle, water vaporization, reflection of light suggesting a distortion in colors, all might not be obvious but the camera makes it possible to halt the moment, disseminate the components, or saturate the space to reveal components that come from nothing. Science as well as spiritual on the same conceptual plane, his photographs point out waves of energy that are suspended for a moment to give a deserving opportunity for particles to convey what they have not had a chance to. They request for more re ned in systems of thought to understand intricateness of reality. The photographs are a witness in outstanding time and space to reflect beauty in an imperfect condition, the in-between stage, and the relationship of us in the existing world that if momentarily ignored will be abstracted and lost.

Satellite is a some of series photographs of ephemeral environment. All have in common that they entered into a semi-darkness so that the scattered light comes reveal the outline of objects, increase the share of empty materials to shimmer like the stars on the sky. This series is a very slow construction work that captures the invisible in the visible. Not the mystical invisibility of be- yond but rather the thoughts in form or the immaterial in matter.

For Viriya, these photographs crystallize the thresh- old between inner and outer world. They are the result of work of sketches and drawings made from images dreamed and fantasized. It is then to capture <<thoughts in the form or intangible material>>. By a set of contrasts between day and night, between objects and their situation, Viriya Chotpanyavisut proposes a hazy appearance and sensory ambiance, sounds suggested, narratives possible.
